Research Summary
To identify the available evidence in the literature on the topical effect of *Chamomilla recutita* to prevent and/or treat skin damage, a literature review was conducted using the following bibliographic databases: The Cochrane Library, PubMed, LILACS, CINAHL, and Web of Science. A total of 11 comparative clinical studies utilized chamomile for different skin conditions, including erythema, pityriasis alba, eczema-like lesions, peristomal injury, contact dermatitis, phlebitis, atopic eczema, radiodermatitis, induced contact dermatitis, wound healing, and eczema.
The review highlights the need to develop more comparative clinical studies that test standardized formulas, with outcomes measured using validated scales. This would encourage the use and reproducibility of pharmaceutical preparations containing *Chamomilla recutita* in clinical practice.
